Prepare two compresses, one hot and the other cold and wrap them in towels. First apply the hot compress on the aching joint and leave it for 3 minutes. Alternate between the hot and cold compresses for about 15-20 minutes a couple of times a day until the pain subsides.
Caution: If the surrounding area becomes red, irritated and hot you shouldn’t use hot compresses. Cold therapy is not recommended to people with circulation problems.
